Vacancy patterns are concentrated in particular roles and regions. Some roles have higher vacancy rates across several regions, indicating ongoing recruitment or retention challenges. Smaller roles with high vacancy rates may feel capacity pressure more than larger roles. Some regions report shortages across several roles, affecting service delivery and stability. Where NHS vacancy rates exceed the overall workforce, stronger recruitment or retention pressures exist within NHS dental services. Targeted workforce planning is needed for the most affected roles and regions.
